Gratitude
As we transition from one year to the next, it is a fitting time to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and look ahead to the future. Through every season—whether marked by success or loss, joy or hardship—one unchanging truth remains: God is good.
Whether we have celebrated victories, faced financial struggles, forged new relationships, or endured grief, God’s goodness has been our constant. Jesus Himself demonstrated this unwavering gratitude as He approached the cross.
If He, knowing the path of suffering ahead, could remain thankful to the Father, how much more should we, recipients of His boundless grace and mercy, live with hearts full of gratitude?
Servitude
In Luke 22, Jesus asks a profound question: Who is greater, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? As followers of Christ, we are called to adopt the mindset of a servant.
Our worth before God is not measured by worldly success or the accumulation of possessions (Luke 12:15, 21), but by the humility and love we show to God and others.
Jesus, though worthy of honour as the one at the table, chose to serve as the ultimate act of greatness (Luke 22:27).
Beatitude
As we approach the new year, our church is preparing for a dedicated time of prayer and fasting. This spiritual practice invites us to intentionally remove distractions and turn our hearts to hear God’s voice (1 Samuel 3:7–11: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.”).
While fasting often focuses on restricting food as an act of discipline, it’s equally important to reflect on other areas of consumption—whether media, habits, or thoughts—that can distract us from God. The challenge before us is this: Will we truly set ourselves apart, creating space to hear His voice and respond to His leading? (Luke 22:40).
Let us prepare with intention and expectation, allowing God to speak into our lives as we quiet the noise around us.
