Sunday 11th January – Legacy – Elder Martin Finegan

David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Legacy is revealed most clearly when surrender costs us something.

In Scripture, few lives illustrate this more powerfully than Jonathan – the warrior prince who laid aside a crown to uphold God’s purposes.

Legacy reflects on what it means to strengthen others “in God,” even when it diminishes our own status; to keep covenant when it is costly; and to trust that what we release in faith, God redeems in generations yet unseen. Jonathan never became king, yet his legacy endured – written in David’s lament, sealed in kindness shown to Mephibosheth, and remembered as a life that pointed beyond itself to God’s greater story.

Will our legacy be defined by what we obtained and held onto, or by what we faithfully laid down for the sake of God’s purposes and the good of others?

Join us for our regular Sunday Service, starting at 10:30 am.
