JA25 – Jamaica Relief, Restore, and Revive

Hurricane Melissa was the strongest hurricane ever to make landfall in Jamaica. Over 30 deaths have been recorded as a result of the hurricane, and tens of thousands of people have experienced damage to property, crops and loss of livestock.

In response, The People’s Christian Fellowship (PCF) seeks to stand in Christian solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Jamaica through a two-year initiative.

We will focus on creating a sustained partnership that supports spiritual and social renewal in Cambridge and Cold Springs.

Cambridge: located in the parish of St. James is a mountain community long regarded as the “fruit basket” of the parish due to its strong agricultural heritage. It is home to several schools and diverse places of worship, reflecting a vibrant community life rooted in faith and resilience.

Cold Springs: in the parish of Hanover, is an area that features a mix of residential spaces and undeveloped land, celebrated for its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

We will be breaking our support into three area’s – Relief, Restore and Revive!

Relief

Collect, pack, ship, and deliver food, hygiene products, and essential supplies to partner churches for distribution within their local communities.

Restore

Restore the physical and spiritual centres of community life by empowering and enabling Churches to become the centre of community help.

Revive

To strengthen the churches’ role in supporting local primary schools and young learners, Evangelism and Outreach.

Relief – Stage 1 – Complete

We are thrilled to share that Stage 1 of our Jamaica Appeal 25 initiative has been completed. In response to Hurricane Melissa — the strongest hurricane ever to make landfall in Jamaica — our church family came together in extraordinary generosity, raising £7,561 in cash donations alongside £1,811 worth of goods. Eight barrels packed with food, hygiene products, medical supplies, and essential equipment were shipped in November 2025 and have now been safely received by our partner churches in Cambridge and Cold Springs. All port duties, taxes, and transportation across the island were covered by an anonymous donor, meaning every pound you gave went directly to the people who needed it most.

We are now moving into Stage 2 — Restore.

With £5,670 remaining in the JA25 fund, our focus turns to supporting the repair of community buildings and providing shelter for families still without adequate housing.

To help us understand the needs on the ground, we are planning a mission trip to visit our partners in Jamaica in person. We will share more information about Stage 2 – Restore in the coming weeks.

Revive will be next!

If you want to provide any finance support for this effort, donate using the code JA25.
