God declares that His people are holy to Him. In this sermon, Pastor David uses a thought-provoking and memorable question to help us consider what being holy to the Lord truly means.
The question he poses is: “What makes the tithe holy?”
It is an unusual angle, especially given that the subject of tithing has become challenging and, in many places, deeply misused.
Along the way, he will consider common arguments for stepping away from tithing altogether and ask whether, in reacting to error, the church has sometimes swung to the opposite extreme. The sermon also briefly addresses the manipulative approaches often associated with prosperity preaching and the discomfort they have created around the subject of money and giving – based on their interpretation of scripture.
Yet, surprisingly, this is not a sermon about tithing.
In answering the opening question, Pastor David ultimately connects the dots between the ‘holy tithe’ and the ‘holy people of God,’ inviting us to reflect more deeply on belonging, obedience, and what it means to be truly holy unto the Lord.
